December 3, 2008-Andrea Leiker tied her career high with 22 points while Alli Volkens added her second straight double-double with 13 points and a career high 16 rebounds in Emporia State's 71-60 victory over Northwest Missouri.
The Lady Hornets never trailed and had a 29-15 lead at the half before the Bearcats rallied to cut the lead to 53-49 with 5:45 left in the game. ESU then went on a 13-3 run to take a 66-52 lead on Leiker's old fashioned three point play with 2:25 left in the game.
Ida Edwards joined Leiker and Volkens in double figures with 19 points for ESU. Meghan Brue had 15 points to pace NWMSU.
ESU is back in action on Saturday night when the play host to Missouri Western. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at White Auditorium.
NOTES:
ESU has now won 13 straight at White Auditorium, the fourth longest home court winning streak in Lady Hornet history.
ESU is now 16-2 in MIAA openers and 9-1 under Brandon Schneider.
