
March 7, 2009-Top seeded Emporia State closed the first half on a 16-0 run on their way to a 83-69 win over Missouri Southern in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals in Kansas City, Mo. The #10 Lady Hornets will take on the winner of the game between Washburn and Pittsburg State for the MIAA title on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
Ida Edwards scored a career high 24 points with ten boards and Cassondra Boston added 15 points and five assists for the Lady Hornets as they advanced to the MIAA Championship game for the seventh time in school history and the first since 2005.
Alli Volkens added ten pionts off the bench for ESU. Myosha Barnes had 20 points for the Lions.
NOTES:
ESU is now 23-9 (.719) all-time in MIAA Tournament games.
Cassondra Boston's 15 points passed former US Olympian Pat Roberts to move into 20th in career scoring at ESU with 1,121 career points.
ESU is now 202-1 since 1997-98 when scoring at least 80 points.
