#15 LADY HORNETS OPEN SEASON WITH 80-35 WIN
November 15, 2008-The #15 Emporia State women's basketball team got 16 points from Sophia Lenard on seven of eight shooting to lead four Lady Hornets in double figures in an 85-30 win over Avila in the first round of the Lady Hornet Classic.
Lenard was joined in double figures by Cassondra Boston with 13 points, Allie Renberg with 11 and Ida Edwards with ten points. The 55 point spread is the largest season opening margin since a 95-20 victory over St. Mary to open the 2000-01 season.
ESU will play Tabor on Sunday to wrap up the two day tournament. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
In earlier action, Ft. Hays defeated Tabor 78-63. The Tigers will play Avila at 1:30 p.m. to begin things on Sunday in White.
