February 10, 2009-The #8 Emporia State Lady Hornets got double-doubles from Ida Edwards and Brittney Miller in an 89-81 win at Southwest Baptist on Tuesday.
Edwards had 19 points and 12 rebounds for her tenth double-double of the year while Miller picked up her second double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.
After trailing 3-2 early ESU used a 9-2 run to take the lead for good. The Lady Hornet lead would reach 23 at 36-13in the first half following a 21-2 run. SBU would cut the lead to 46-34 at the half.
The Bearcats would get within five points at 53-48 with 14:53 left in the game, but ESU responded with a 9-2 run.
ESU also got 18 points from Sophia Lenard and 15 from Cassondra Boston as they won their 20th game of the season.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday at Missouri Southern. Tip-off from the Leggett & Platt Center is set for 5:30 p.m.
NOTES
ESU has now won 20 games in a season 17 times including 12 of the last 13 seasons.
Boston moved into 21st place in career scoring at ESU and now has 1,055 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 30-7 following a loss in MIAA play under Brandon Schneider.
