January 24, 2009-Sophia Lenard scored 19 points with seven assists and three steals to lead the #5 Emporia State Lady Hornets to a 104-86 victory over Northwest Missouri on Saturday in Maryville, Mo. Lenard was one of seven Lady Hornets in double figures.
There were five ties and seven lead changes in the first half before ESU closed the period on a 9-4 run to take a 49-44 lead into the locker room. The Lady Hornets then started the second half on a 17-4 run to take control.
Jamie Augustyn hit a career high five three-pointers for 15 points and
Cassondra Boston had 13 points. Ida Edwards, Andrea Leiker, and Alli Volkens all scored 11 points and Allie Renberg added ten.
ESU led by as many 36 points in the second half before NWMSU scored the final 18 points of the game.
The Lady Hornets will wrap-up a three game road trip at Missouri Western on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo.
NOTES:
ESU topped the 100 point mark for the 62nd time in school history and the 44th time under Brandon Schneider.
It is the fifth time ESU has eclipsed the 100 point mark this season, the most in a season since the 2005-06 season.
