January 21, 2009-Ida Edwards recorded her eighth double-double of the year to lead five Lady Hornets in double figures in a 90-51 win over Ft. Hays State on Wednesday night in Hays, Kan.
There were five ties in the first 5:52 of the game before ESU went on a 12-2 run to take a 25-15 lead at the 9:23 mark. The Lady Hornets went into the half up 47-31 thanks in large part to a 14-0 advantage in points off turnovers. ESU would steadily pull away in the second half.
Erica Biel led FHSU with 31 points and 13 rebounds but was the only Tiger in double figures as ESU placed five players in double figures and eight players scored. In addition to Edwards' 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists Brittney Miller posted her first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Andrea Leiker scored 17 points to become the 23rd Lady Hornet to score 1,000 career points. Cassondra Boston socred 14 points with four three pointers to move into sixth in career made three pointers at ESU. Allie Renberg was the other Lady Hornet in double figures with 12 points in her first start of the season.
ESU is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Northwest Missouri State. Tip-off from Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo. is set for 1:30 p.m.
