December 3, 2007-The #7 Emporia State Lady Hornets used a 14-1 run midway through the second half to blow open the game in a 82-54 win over Evangel on Monday in White Auditorium. Two-time All-American Michelle Stueve scored 22 points to pass WU's Brooke Ubelaker into tenth place in all-time MIAA scoring. She now has 1,849 points and is in third place in ESU career scoring and with eight rebounds moved into fifth in career rebounding at ESU with 816 boards, passing Tara Holloway in both categories at ESU.
In addition to Stueve, Allie Renberg added 16 points and five rebounds while Andrea Leiker had 13 points. Lacy Corker had a career high eight assists as starting point guard Cassondra Boston left the game with 9:14 left in the first half with an ankle injury.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday, December 8 against Harris-Stowe. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from White Auditorium.
NOTES:
The 22 points marked the fifth straight game to open the season Stueve has scored at least 20 points.
The ESU record for 20 point games to start a season is nine by US Olympian Patricia Roberts in 1975-76.
The win is ESU's sixth straight in White Auditorium and 59th straight home win against non-MIAA competition.
