January 9, 2008--In a game that saw three different 10-0 runs, #4 Washburn had the last one in a 61-54 win over #16 Emporia State in White Auditorium on Wednesday night. ESU led 43-40 with 10:02 left when WU went on a 10-0 run over five minutes to take a 50-43 lead with 5:44 remaining. The Lady Blues would then hit ten of 12 free throws over the last 2:50 to seal the win.
Emporia State had 24 turnovers that led to 31 Washburn points. It was the fourth straight game and eighth time this season ESU has given up at least 20 turnovers.
Michelle Stueve had a game high 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Hornets, who lost their MIAA home opener for just the second time in ten years under Brandon Schneider. Ida Edwards and Cassondra Boston joined Stueve in double figures with ten points each. Jessica Mainz had 16 points and five steals to lead WU.
The Lady Hornets play host to Pittsburg State on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.

Stueve now has 1,997 points in her career.
The 19 points were a career high against WU for Stueve.
