January 16, 2008-Emporia State jumped out to a 16-0 lead at the first media timeout and never looked back as they defeated Truman 98-61 on Wednesday night in White Auditorium. Andrea Leiker had 21 points as five Lady Hornets reached double figures. ESU connected on 14 three-pointers and a season high 33 assists in the game.
Michelle Stueve added 20 points for the #19 Lady Hornets and passed two players to move into sixth place in MIAA career scoring with 2,036 points. Allie Renberg finished with a double-double for the Lady Hornets scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Ida Edwards added 15 points for ESU while Cassondra Boston finished with 10 points. Georgia Mueller scored 21 points on eight of 22 shooting to lead TSU and was the only Bulldog in double figures.
The Lady Hornets were up
32-9 before the Bulldogs broke double digits at the
8:31 mark. ESU ended the game shooting .494 from
the field and pulled down a season high 50
rebounds.
ESU will begin a two game road trip on Saturday at Central Missouri. Tip-off from the Multipurpose Building is set for 1:30 p.m.
