March 1, 2008-Playing her last game in White Auditorium, All-American Michelle Stueve had 28 points and 12 rebounds as Emporia State defeated Southwest Baptist 120-83 on Senior Day. As a team the Lady Hornets tied the MIAA record with 19 made three-pointers. With Washburn losing the win tied the Hornets for the MIAA Regular Season Championship.
Stueve led five Lady Hornets in double figures as they had a season high 35 assists. Alli Volkens scored 19 points on nine of ten shooting while Allie Renberg had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Andrea Leiker just missed a double double with 18 points and nine assists. Cassondra Boston was the other Lady Hornet in double figures with 17 points.
ESU will begin play in the MIAA Tournament against Truman at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium.
