March 15, 2008-Michelle Stueve scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as Emporia State came from behind to defeat Northwest Missouri 83-71 to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Hornets trailed 41-36 at the half and were behind by eight with 18:33 left before going on the first of two 10-0 runs. The first one took 1:31 and gave ESU their first lead at the 17:10 mark. Andrea Leiker had six of her 17 points during the run, including a three-pointer that tied the score at 44-44 with 17:36 left.
After NWMSU regained the lead, Ida Edwards and Cassondra Boston combined on a 10-0 run in 1:49 to give ESU a 66-61 lead at the 9:18 mark. The Lady Hornets closed the game with an 11-0 run to take their largest lead of the game with 23 seconds left.
ESU shot over .600 from the field after intermission for the second straight game in the regional, going 16 of 25 for a .640 percentage after shooting .708 in the second half against SBU in the first round.
Emporia State will take on Washburn for the regional championship on Monday night in Canyon, Texas. It is the third time in four years the Lady Hornets and Lady Blues, MIAA regular season co-champions, will meet for the opportunity to go to the Elite Eight. The two have split their previous two meetings in the regional championship game with WU winning in 2005 in Springfield, Mo. while ESU won in Topeka in 2006.

Stueve's 22 points tied her with Carolyn Richard as the Lady Hornets all-time leading scorer with 2,378 points.
