#20 LADY HORNETS AVENGE EARLIER LOSS
February 13, 2008—The #20 Lady Hornets closed the first half on a 23-4 run on their way to a 79-46 victory over Missouri Southern in White Auditorium on Wednesday night. All-American Michelle Stueve scored ten of her game high 22 points during the run for ESU.
The Lady Hornets scorched Southern, the MIAA’s leader in field goal percentage defense and ranked #11 in the nation, for a blistering .556 shooting percentage for the game.
In addition to Stueve’s 22 points, Ida Edwards added 20 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.
India Wood was the only Lion in double figures with ten points. MSSU shot .291 from the field for the game.
With the win ESU clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament next month in Kansas City.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they play host to Central Missouri. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 5:30 p.m.
NOTES:
ESU held MSSU to 17 points in the first half the fewest points by an opponent this year and the fewest since MSSU scored just 15 in the first half on Feb. 7, 2007.
Stueve now has 2,212 points in her career to move into the top 25 of all-time NCAA Division II scorers.
