December 8, 2007-The #7 Emporia State Lady Hornets fell at home in a non-conference game for the first time since 1995 in a 58-51 loss to NAIA #23 Harris-Stowe on Saturday night. The 51 points are the fewest scored by ESU since falling to Washburn 63-51 in the 2005 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship game.
Michelle Stueve led ESU with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Allie Renberg had her first career double-double with 10 points and ten rebounds. ESU played without starting point guard Cassondra Boston, who is out with an ankle injury.
Emporia State led 28-27 at the half despite turning the ball over 12 times in the opening frame. Harris-Stowe outscored ESU 15-6 off of turnovers for the game.
The loss snapped a 59-game home court winning streak in non-conference action dating back to a 70-67 loss to then RMAC member Ft. Hays State on December 16, 1995.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Friday, December 14 when they take on Central Methodist. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in White Auditorium.
