#19 LADY HORNETS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT

January 19, 2008-Emporia State shot .535 from the field and connected on 11 of 22 three pointers to overcome 29 turnovers in a 73-63 win at Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Hornets outrebounded the Jennies on the game pulling down 36 boards to UCM's 25 rebounds. ESU also won the battle at the line hitting .889 percent of their free throws while the Jennies shot .731 from the line.

Michelle Stueve led ESU with 18 points, five assists and five rebounds while Ida Edwards scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half for ESU. Cassondra Boston also finished in double figures with ten points for the Lady Hornets.

In the first half the Lady Hornets shot .522 percent, but only went into the break with a 34-31 lead after turning the ball over 16 times. The Lady Hornets got the job done at the three-point line hitting eight of 14 shots from the beyond the arc. ESU got down early after UCM went on a 4-0 run, but answered with an 11-0 run of their own.

ESU is back in action on Wednesday at Missouri Southern.  Tip-off from Joplin, Mo. is set for 5:30 p.m.

NOTES: Michelle Stueve scored 18 points to pass Pitt State’s Leslie Dudley for fifth place in MIAA career scoring.  She is now 105 points behind Becky Reichard for the MIAA career scoring record.
