February 27, 2008-All-American Michelle Stueve scored 24 points to lead #22 Emporia State to a 80-54 victory over Truman on Wednesday night in Kirksville, Mo. The win gives the Lady Hornets 20 wins for the 11th time in the last 12 years.
The Lady Hornets hit a season high 14 three pointers with nine coming in the second half. After TSU cut the ESU lead to 57-44 with 9:08 left the Lady Hornets went on a 14-0 run fueled by four three-pointers. Stueve hit back to back threes to start the run.
ESU will play it’s final regular season game on Saturday against Southwest Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with a ceremony at approximately 1:20 to honor Stueve before her final appearance in White Auditorium.
NOTES:
Stueve moved to 14th in NCAA Division II all-time scoring with 2,294 points.
ESU ended the regular season 8-4 away from White Auditorium.
The Lady Hornets locked up the #2 seed in the MIAA Tournament and will play at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 against an unknown opponent.
