#13 LADY HORNETS FALL AT SBU
January 5, 2008-The #13 Emporia State Lady Hornets battled back from an 11 point deficit with 4:51 left to tie the score with 1:15 left but could not pull out the win in a 76-73 loss at Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon. Michelle Stueve led ESU with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Ida Edwards scored 14 points with 10 boards for her second straight double-double.
ESU had 23 turnovers in the game, the seventh time this year the Lady Hornets have eclipsed 20 turnovers in a game.
The Lady Hornets will take on #4 Washburn on Wednesday in White Auditorium. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. with the doors to open at 4:30 p.m. Reserved seats are sold out for Wednesday, however plenty of general admission tickets remain. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the ESU Athletic Ticket Office at 877-341-NEST.
NOTES:
Michelle Stueve moved to eighth in MIAA career scoring and now has 1,978 points in her career. She needs 22 points against WU to break 2,000 points.
The loss snapped an 11 game ESU winning streak against SBU. The last loss was Feb. 12, 2002 - 65-62 in Bolivar.
Five Lady Hornets scored in double figures.
