January 23, 2008- Emporia State cut an 18 point Missouri Southern lead to three points with 15:05 left in the game, but the Lions hit their last 20 free throws in a 90-71 win over the Lady Hornets. It was just the second time a team has scored 90 points against a Brandon Schneider coached team and the first since a 110-93 ESU victory over Truman in the 1999 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship game.
MSSU ended the game with an MIAA season high 34 made free throws in 38 attempts. The Lions entered the game ranked tenth in the league in free throw percentage.
Michelle Stueve led ESU with 21 points and eight rebounds. She moved into sixth in career rebounding in the MIAA.Cassondra Boston added 15 for the Lady Hornets while Andrea Lieker added 14 points.
ESU is back in action on Sunday, January 27 against Missouri Western. Tip-off for the rare Sunday matinee is set for 1:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
