December 6, 2008-Emporia State outscored Missouri Western 51-25 in the first half and held on for an 88-77 win on Saturday night in White Auditorium. Lamar Wilbern had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists and Robert Moores had a game high 20 points for the Hornets. Jeremiah Box joined them in double figures with 15 points in the game.
ESU shot .621 on the night while the Griffons shot .456. Missouri Western shot .600 as they attempted to come from behind in the second half. The Hornets won the turnover battle for the third straight game forcing 18 turnover while only turning the ball over 15 times.
Dominique Thuston had a double double with 16 points and ten rebounds to lead Missouri Western. Ken Goodwin had 17 points on six of seven shooting from the field and was joined in double figures by Lonnel Johnson with 13 and Marcus Rhodes with 10 points.
ESU is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 10 when they take on Central Christian in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in White Auditorium.
