HORNET MEN DEFEAT FHSU TO EARN THIRD PLACE IN THE MIAA
February 28, 2009-Lamar Wilbern scored 26 points as Emporia State defeated Ft. Hays State 81-74 on Saturday night in White Auditorium. With the win, ESU secured the third seed in the MIAA Tournament and will play Washburn at 8:15 p.m. on March 5 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
The Hornets never led by more than eight points on the night, but only trailed once at 55-54 with 8:15 left in the game. ESU hit nine of ten free throws in the final 1:31 to secure the win.
