HORNETS FALL TO NORTHWEST MISSOURI

January 24, 2009-Emporia State outscored Northwest Missouri 56-42 from the 13:29 mark of the first half until the 6:06 mark fo the second half, but were outscored 11-0 to start the game and 14-0 to end the game in a 67-56 loss in Maryvill, Mo. on Saturday.

The Hornets fell behind 11-0 to start the game, missing their first seven shots before Robert Moores put them on the board with a three-pointer with 13:29 left in the first half. After that ESU played basically even with NWMSU until the Hornets went on a 16-0 run in the second half to take a 53-50 lead with 6:32 remaining. The Bearcats tied it at 53-53 on a Mike Larson three with 6:18 left. The Hornets regained the lead with 6:06 left on an Alex Pyle three to make it 56-53. NWMSU would then end the game on a 14-0 run as ESU missed their final seven shots of the game.

| Robert Moores led ESU with a game high 19 points and added four assists. Jeremiah Box and Alex Pyle each added 12 points for ESU.

The Hornets remain one game out of first place in the MIAA with a 7-4 record in conference action and 13-5 record overall. ESU is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to MWSU. Tip-off from St. Joseph, Mo. is set for 7:30 p.m.
