HORNETS DROP GAME AT DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

November 11, 2008 -- The Hornets were no match for the defending Division I National Champions KU as the Jayhawks shot .631 from the field in a 103-58 victory for Kansas.

ESU rebounded from their poor start at Wichita State by taking their only lead of the game at 5-4. Jeremiah Box's old fashioned three point play at the 11:28 mark pulled ESU within 22-18 before KU went on a 19-1 run to take control of the game.

Alex Pyle had 13 points and three rebounds and was joined in double figures by Jeremiah Box with 13 and Adam Holthaus with 12 points. Spencer Allen led the team with five total rebounds and was joined by Box with four and Doug Moore who also had four.

The Hornets will play their season opener on Nov. 17 when they travel to Portales, N.M. to take on the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico.
