February 2, 2008-Emporia State converted six of eight free throws in the final 1:24 to hold off Ft. Hays State 67-60 on Saturday night in White Auditorium. Caleb Tegtmeier led all scorers with 20 points while DeAndre Townsend added 19 points and five assists. Jordan Fithian added 12 points for the Hornets and added a game high seven rebounds.
FHSU had cut ESU's lead to three with 2:20 left when Dustin Andrews got loose on the baseline and hit a lay-up with 2:07 left, forcing the Tigers to foul. Tyrone Evans, the two-time MIAA Player of the Week, led FHSU with 18 points.
The Hornets, who have won five of their last six games, will take on Northwest Missouri on Wednesday. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 7:30 p.m.
