April 17, 2008-Emporia State men’s basketball coach David Moe has announced the addition of four student-athletes that will attend ESU and play for the Hornets.

Jeremiah Box is a 6-5 guard from Rockford, Ill. He is transferring to ESU from Sauk Valley ( Ill.) CC. He averaged 18.5 points per game for the NJCAA Division I school on his way to first-team All-Conference honors. He was the Region IV defensive player of the year.

Tim Niles is a 5-9 guard from DesPlains, Ill. He is transferring to ESU from the College of Dupage. He was a first-team NJCAA Division III All-American after he led the Chaparrals in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds, four assists and two steals per contest. He was named second team All-American his freshman season and scored 1,039 points in his two year career.

Shang Ping is a 6-10 forward from Haerbin, China. He is transferring to ESU from Nebraska. He played in 21 games for the Huskers and shot .545 from the field. He started his collegiate career at Illinois Central College where he averaged 14.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a freshman. He was a preseason NJCAA All-American and was named the #6 small forward in junior college by nbadraft.net before injuries sidelined him for most of his sophomore season. He averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game at Avondal HS in New Zealand and played for the Chinese Under 18 National Team.

Lamar Wilbern is a 6-1 point guard from Milwaukee, Wisc. He is transferring to ESU from Kaplan University/Hamilton College ( Neb.). He averaged 23.2 points, 9.4 assists, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.9 steals per game for the Wrecking Crew as a sophomore as he earned first-team All-Region honors.

Emporia State advanced to the MIAA Tournament Championship game in 2008 and lose six seniors from that team.
