February 9, 2008—Emporia State jumped out to a 15-0 lead but went 12 of 23 from the line and could not hold on as they lost 68-64 at Missouri Western on Saturday night. ESU ended the night shooting .467 from the field, but were outshot at the foul line shooting only .522 percent.
DeAndre Townsend led all scorers with 26 points and a game high seven assists for ESU. Caleb Tegtmeier was the only other Hornets in double figures adding 14 points in the ball game.
The Hornets are back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Missouri Southern. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
