HORNET BASKETBALL ADDS FOUR
EMPORIA, KAN. (June 7, 2007)-- Emporia State men's basketball coach David Moe announced recently the addition of four players to the Hornet roster. High school players Matt Boswell and Jordan Stout along with transfers Marvin Lee and Marc Lewis will attend ESU and play basketball for the Hornets.
Boswell is a 6-6 wing player from Wichita, Kan. He averaged 21.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for Kapaun Mt. Carmel HS as a senior. He led the Wichita City League in scoring as a junior and senior. He earned third-team All-Kansas honors as a senior in addition to being a two-time second-team All-Class 5A selection. He led the Crusaders to a fourth place finish at the Kansas Class 5A State Tournament as a senior after they had won their first Wichita City League Championship in 31 years during his junior season. He will play in the KBCA All-Star game later this summer.
Stout is a 6-3 guard from Madison, Kan. He was a two-time honorable mention All-Class 1A performer for Madison HS. He was a unanimous first-team All-Lyon County League selection as a senior. He led the Bulldogs to a regional championship and sub-state runner-up finish as a senior.
Marvin Lee is a 6-2 guard from Chicago, Ill. that will come to ESU from NCAA Division I Binghamton Univ. He played in 17 games with four starts for the Bearcats. He was a first-team All-Region VI performer at Pratt Community College after averaging 14.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He also led the Beavers in steals with 50 his sophomore season. In high school Lee was a first-team all-conference player for Hyde Park Academy in Chicago.
Marc Lewis is a 6-3 guard from Minneapolis, Minn. that last played at North Dakota State College of Science. He was a third-team NJCAA Division I All-American after averaging 19.5 points for the Wildcats. He prepped at Patrick Henry HS in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Hornets were 21-8 last year, their fifth straight winning season, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in four years.
