Prospective Athletes
The Emporia State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics welcomes inquiries from prospective student-athletes. ESU is committed to complying with NCAA and MIAA recruiting rules. If you are a high school-aged student, please keep the following rules in mind during the recruitment process:
If you are a high school junior or senior, don't forget to register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. You must be certified by the Clearinghouse in order to participate in athletics as a freshman at the NCAA Division I or II level. See your guidance counselor for more information, or go to the NCAA Web site at www.ncaa.org.
If you are a transfer student who will be attending an NCAA DI or DII school for the first time you must also register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse in order to have your Amateurism Status certified. (You will not have to send transcripts or test scores if you have at least 24 college credits). If you registered with the Clearinghouse when you were in high school you can call the following number (1-800-877-262-1492) and get your Clearinghouse PIN # to go back in at ncaaclearinghouse.net and answer the Amateurism questions at no additional charge.
If you are a transfer from a four-year college, ESU must have written permission from your current or previous school in order to contact you about your transfer options.
