March 25, 2009 -- The #3 ESU baseball team scored in all but three innings as they rolled to a 7-1 victory over #29 Wayne State on Wednesday in Topeka, Kan. Every Hornet either had a hit or scored a run in the game as ESU outhit WSC 13-9.
At the plate, Kenny Burkhead hit his fifth home run of the season in the first inning to get things rolling. Andy Cotton went two for four with two runs drive in and was joined by Kevin Wempe who also went two for four with two RBI. Cole Moore went 5.2 innings to pick up his third straight win allowing only five hits. Brett McBride allowed only one hit over 1.1 innings of relief.
ESU will return to action on Sunday, March 29 when they face Washburn in a double-header in Topeka, Kan. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Falley Field.
