#3 ESU BASEBALL SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER WITH MWSU

April 5, 2009 -- The #3 Emporia State baseball team split a double-header with Missouri Wetsern 2-9 and 9-5 in Emporia. On a cold windy day the Hornets had 18 hits including four extra base hits.
In game one, ESU could not overcome four errors as only one Griffon run was earned. Andy Cotton was the only Hornet to record more than one hit. Ryan Anthony pitched 3.2 innings allowing no earned runs in his first loss of the season.
In game two ESU took advantage of four Griffon errors, while not committing any themselves. Conner Crumbliss and Marc Albers both had two RBI as Albers hit his second home run of the season. Caleb Williamson and Kenny Burkhead finished with two hits each. Cole Moore picked up his fourth straight win with 5.1 innings pitched allowing only four runs. Dominik King picked up his first career save by pitching the final 3.2 innings of the game only allowing one run.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. from Glennen Field in Emporia, Kan.
