April 1, 2009 -- The #3 Emporia State baseball team scored in the first through sixth innings as they pulled out a 12-9 victory over Bethany. The Hornets got 10 of their runs through the first four innings and capitalized on six Swede errors.
Conner Crumbliss was two of three on the night with three runs scored while Kenny Burkhead went two for five with four runs driven in. Anthony Markowitz hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. On the mound Justin Maxson pitched four innings of relief to pick up his first win. Diego Soto pitched the final inning to pick up his seventh save of the season.
ESU moved to 26-5 on the season and will face Missouri Western in a series this weekend in St. Joseph, Mo.
