May 29, 2009
(9:02 p.m. EDT) The Hornets had a great trip to Chapel Hill, unfortunately it didn't go so well for the Jayhawks. It was great for the team to hear the announcement over the PA that "Emporia State, who will be playing in the Division II National Championship tomorrow in Cary, is in attendance down the first base line." The Hornets returned home for dinner and an early trip to bed as a lot of players stayed up to watch the end of the last night's Lynn/Belmont Abbey game (which ended at 2:12 a.m.).
(11:45 a.m. EDT) The Hornets had a light practice this morning with batting practice and throwing in the infield. The Coaches also got the chance to set down with the TV crew for tomorrow's game. After lunch the Hornets will head to Chapel Hill to watch Kansas take on Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Division I regional.

The tarp is out here in Cary, more as a measure of caution then anything as it's sunny and 79 degrees. The team is over at the field taking batting practice and should take the field in just under an hour for pregame runthroughs.

It is another cloudy potentially rainy day, with the bEDT chance of storms in the afternoon. So far teams have been able to dodge the rain drops and we've only seen one delay. Cross your fingers that trend continues today.

(10:18 p.m. EDT) SPECIAL GUEDT BLOGGER #22 Caleb Williamson: Hey Hornet fans, we are excited to get back on the field tomorrow. The last couple of days we have had a chance to relax and see a few of the sights in N.C. We were able to roam around Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke for a while yEDTerday. It wasn't quite Trusler Sports Complex but it was still pretty cool. This evening we are just hanging around the hotel getting ready for tomorrow's game. On the field I feel like we have played pretty well so far and we are looking to continue it tomorrow. Do Work, Son!
(5:25 p.m. EDT)
The team just returned to the hotel after learning their opponent for tomorrow's game. ESU will face #1 UC-San Diego in a double-elimination semi-final. You can listen to the game at www.kvoe.com or watch the game on www.ncaa.com. First pitch for the match-up is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CST) from Cary. The team is now heading out for dinner and will return to the hotel to rEDT before tomorrow's game. It was a hot one this afternoon with temps reaching the high 80's with alot of humidity.
(1:31 p.m. EDT) After yEDTerday's all day rain shower, today's weather features much more sun and humid temperatures. The Hornets took infield and batting practice this morning. And after lunch they will head to watch Dowling play UC-San Diego of which the winner will play the Hornets tomorrow at 2 p.m. CDT. Stay tuned for more pictures of the last two days.

The town of Cary saw it's first extended rain of the week last night. We have been assured, however, by the USA Baseball Complex turf manager that the field can hold up to two inches of rain before delays would come into play. So instead we wake up to a beautiful morning with game time set for 4 p.m. back in Kansas.

They then moved to one of the other four fields in the complex for batting practice. After a lunch the players came back to the hotel for an afternoon of rEDT and relaxation before tonight's NCAA Championship banquet. The Coaches and I will be heading for this afternoons press conference here in a couple of minutes.
