March 16, 2008 -- On a day that saw rain, sleet and even snow the Hornets pulled out two wins to complete a four game sweep over Truman. The Hornets took the first game 4-3 after coming from behind in the seventh and took game two 8-3 after putting up five runs in the first.
Daniel Waggoner only faced one batter but became the winning pitcher in the first game after relieving Richard Timbrook who pitching 6.2 innings and struck out 11 hitters. Brian Majors went one for four with two RBI, but got the clutch hit in the seventh to tie the game and stole two bases to get in to scoring position and scored the game winning run on a error by the catcher. Chris Dobler also finished two of three for the Hornets.
In game two Eric Shortell went one for two with a home run and three RBI as the Hornets put up five runs in the first inning. James Morrison also went two of four with two RBI for the Hornets. Kellen Mitts picked up the win and Daniel Waggoner got a save to go along with his win on the day.
ESU will face Newman University in Wichita on Tuesday, March 18.
