March 14, 2008 -- Tyler Applehans and Aaron Burris combined for a shutout as the Hornets opened conference play with a 8-0 shutout of Truman. The Hornets had only ten hits but capitalized on two Truman errors.
At the plate Eric Shortell and Andy Anderson each homered for ESU. Shortell finished two for two with three runs scored and three RBI. Anthony Dreiling also went three for four with a RBI for the Hornets.
On the mound Applehans allowed only two hits through six innings and struck out four. Burris also struck out four in his 2.2 innings of work.
The #16 Hornets will be back at it tomorrow when they are scheduled to face Truman at 1:00 p.m. in a doubleheader.
