March 29, 2008 – The #10 ESU baseball team tied the Emporia State All-Time winning streak for baseball winning their 19 th straight with 6-2 and 6-4 wins over Southwest Baptist. The Hornets have now won their first 12 games in conference play and set atop the MIAA.
In game one ESU jumped out early again putting up five runs in the first three innings. At the plate Anthony Dreiling hit a two run homer while Andy Anderson went two for three with two runs driven in. Richard Timbrook earned his third win of the season pitching 6.0 innings and striking out 11 and twice stranding Bearcat runners at third.
In game two ESU trailed much of the ball game using a four run bottom of the eighth inning to push in front of SBU for the 6-4 win. Andy Anderson was two for three and drove in what would prove to be the game winning run. Daniel Waggoner picked up his fourth win of the season pitching the final five innings of the game. Brian Majors extended his team leading hitting streak to 20 games.
The Hornets now 26-3 overall will face Pittsburg State on Tuesday, April 4 for a double header scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. from Glennen Field in the Trusler Sports Complex.
