April 16, 2008 -- The #4 ESU baseball team pushed its record setting winning streak to 31 games with 17-5 and 12-2 win over Pittsburg State. The Hornets hit six home runs over the two games and had 11 extra base hits in the two games. Hornet pitchers struck out 12 batters over the two contests.
In game one Conner Crumbliss led off the game with a home run for the third time in the last five games. Crumbliss finished the game with two hits and four RBI. Kevin Wempe also went one for two with his fourth home run and drove in three runs. And Anderson had a big night going three for five with a home run and seven runs driven in. Brock Nehls pitched five innings only allowing three hits as he picked up his eighth win of the season.
In game two Crumbliss led off his second straight game with a home run his eighth of the season. Keith Hernandez also homered as he went three for four with four runs driven in. Nick Carlson added his fourth home run of the season and drove in three runs as well. Diego Soto went six innings and only allowed three hits to pick up his fourth win of the season and second over the Gorillas.
The Hornets, who are now 38-3 and 24-0 in the MIAA, will now prepare for a weekend series with Northwest Missouri State.
