March 26, 2008 -- The #10 ESU baseball team knocked off Newman 9-3 last night in Wichita. ESU came back from a 3-2 deficit in the third inning with one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth inning. The Hornets have now won six straight games in which they have scored in the first inning and have now won 15 straight overall.
At the plate ESU was led by Keith Hernandez who went three for four with three RBI and Matt Marasco who went three for five and drove in two runs. Kevin Wempe went two for four with three runs scored for the Hornets. On the mound Ty Reese earned his second win of the season working 2.0 innings allowing no hits while striking out three.
ESU moves to 22-3 on the season and will next be in action this weekend when Southwest Baptist comes to town for double headers on March 28-29.
