April 6, 2008 -- The Hornets pushed their winning streak to 25 games as they swept the weekend series with Fort Hays state behind a 13-3 run rule win. The Hornets have now moved to within two games of tieing the MIAA all-time winning streak of 27 games set by Central Missouri. Brian Majors added two hits today to push his hitting streak to 26 games.
At the plate the Hornets got two-two run home runs in the first inning that would stand up. Eric Shortell got his 11th home run of the season when he homered in Conner Crumbliss, two batters later Anthony Dreiling hit his fourth home run of the year with Keith Hernandez on base. Shortell finished three for four with four RBI while Dreiling went three for four with three RBI. Andy Anderson added two RBI with a walk off double to finish out the run rule in the bottom of the seventh. Richard Timbrook went the distance for the Hornets striking out ten and only allowing three runs.
The Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8 when they take on Pittsburg State. First pitch for the (7/9) double header is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Pittsburg.

The Hornets hit 14 home runs and scored 65 runs in the four game series.
That's an average of 3.5 home runs per game and 16.25 runs per game.
Brian Majors has now hit in 26 straight games, dating back to the Hornets last loss.
