#6 ESU STREAKS TO 22ND STRAIGHT WIN

April 4, 2008 -- The #6 ESU baseball team saw their bats come to life as they put up eight runs through four innings on their way to a 14-8 victory over Fort Hays State. The win was the 22nd in a row for the Hornets who last lost on March 8th to Minnesota Duluth. Brian Majors extended his team high hitting streak to 23, the highest total by any Hornet in this decade.
 
Eric Shortell came up big at the plate for the Hornets hitting two home runs and driving in six runs in the ballgame. Majors finished three of three with four runs scored and drove in three runs of his own. Keith Hernandez also homered for the Hornets and drove in two runs along with Anthony Dreiling. Tyler Applehans went 6.0 innings allowing five runs on eight hits as he picked up his seventh straight victory of the season. Aaron Burris came on to pitch the final three innings to pick up his fourth save of the season.
 
The Hornets, who are now 29-3 overall and 15-0 in the MIAA, will be back on the field tomorrow against FHSU with a double-header scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
