April 27, 2008 -- The #2 ESU baseball team got two home runs from Keith Hernandez as they bounced back to win the series finale with Central Missouri 10-8 on Sunday. The Hornets outhit the Mules 14-13 in the contest that saw ten overall extra base hits. With the win the Hornets tied an MIAA record for most conference wins in season, tieing the old mark of 29 set by the 2000 Central Missouri squad.
At the plate Hernandez led the way going three for four with three runs drive in. Anthony Dreiling added three RBI for the Hornets as well while Eric Shortell and Conner Crumbliss each scored two runs. On the hill Ty Reese pitched 4.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn his fourth victory of the season.
The Hornets, now 43-6 and 29-3 in the MIAA, will face Washburn in the opener of the Turnpike Tussle on Friday, May 2 at 5 p.m. from Glennen Field in the Trusler Sports Complex.
