May 17, 2008 -- The #5 ESU baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Divison II Central Regional with a 17-14 loss to Nebraska-Omaha. The game saw 31 hits and 13 extra base hits to go along with seven home runs. Nine pitchers saw time between the two teams during the game.

At the plate for the Hornets Anthony Dreiling went three for four with five RBI including a grand slam in the Hornets five run third. Keith Hernandez finished going one for three but had four RBI. Nick Wolfe also came in with multiple RBI after hitting a three run home run ithe top of the ninth. Richard Timbrook earned the loss for the Hornets.

ESU finishes the season 50-10 after making it to the regional for the fifth straight year.

At the plate for the Mavericks Chris Weimer went four for six with three RBI while Dustin Koca went two for four with three RBI as both had home runs. Brian Strawn who pitched the final 0.2 innings came in two for five with four RBI and a home run. Bryan Frew also homered for the Mavs, his 11th of the season and ended the night with two RBI. Matt Degagne the starter went 5.2 innings and picked up his fifth win of the season.

The Mavericks will advance to face Central Missouri in the Championship game at 12 noon, if they win a if neccisary will be played 30 minutes following the first game.
