May 17, 2008 -- The Hornets gave up two runs in the first inning and could not come from behind as Central Missouri knocked them off 5-2 in the Central Regional Winner's Bracket Final. THe Hornets only came up with five hits as Danny Potje and Chris Matlock combined to only allow one earned run.
At the plate the Hornets had no RBI as both runs came with errors by Central Missouri. Anthony Dreiling was the only Hornet with multiple hits going two for four on the evening. Diego Soto pitched 5.1 innings and earned his first loss of the year.
For the Mules Luis Perez was two for four with two doubles and drove in two runs for the UCM. Danny Potje picked up his eighth win of the season while Chris Matlock earned his 11th save of the season which ties the MIAA record for saves in a season.
The Hornets will now face the winner of this afternoon's Minnesota State/Nebraska-Omaha game tonight at 7 p.m. The Mules will await the winner of that game in the final tomorrow at 12 noon.
