May 16, 2008 -- The #5 ESU baseball team advanced in the NCAA Division II Central Regional with a 13-8 victory over Wayne State. For the Hornets it was their second straight win in a game where they were outhit as 15-11 by the Wildcats.
At the plate the Hornets were paced by Andy Anderson who went three for five with four RBI in the game while Caleb Williamson and Nick Carlson each added two RBI. Daniel Waggoner came on in relief to pick up his seventh victory of the season. At the plate for the Wildcats Joe Wendte went four for five with three runs driven in. Mitch Herrick moved to 8-2 with the loss for Wayne State.
The Hornets will now face the winner of tonight's Central Missouri/Nebraska-Omaha game at 12 noon on Saturday. The Wildcats are eliminated from the tournament.
