May 15, 2008 -- The #5 ESU baseball got a come from behind win over Concordia St. Paul with a 3-2 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Central Regional. ESU outhit the Golden Bears 6-5 and got the one when it counted as Caleb Williamson hit a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth. For Williamson it was his second RBI single in the ninth inning of the week after hitting a ninth inning RBI single to earn a 6-5 victory over Fort Hays State in the MIAA Tournament.
Conner Crumbliss provided the early fireworks for the Hornets as he hit a solo home run, his 12th of the year, in the bottom of the eighth inning. Tyler Applehans pitched 7.1 innings with six strikeouts in a no decision as Aaron Burris earned his second win of the week coming on to pitch the final 1.2 for his third win of the season. Jake Schmidt earned his first loss of the year falling to 7-1 on the season.
The Hornets will play Wayne State tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. while the Golden Bears will take on Minnesota State at 12 noon from Glennen Field in the Trusler Sports Complex.
