Dear Hornet Alum,

As the summer draws to an end and classes are getting started, the ESU baseball team begins the process of returning to the NCAA Championships. We are looking forward to raising the bar once again for the 2007 season. I am very excited for this team because we have a chance to make a run at the 2008 NCAA World Series.

In 2007, the Hornets posted 41 wins, captured the MIAA Tournament Championship and made it to the NCAA Regional for the fourth straight season. The Hornets are one of two MIAA schools to consecutively compete in the NCAA Regionals since ESU joined the conference in 1993. The current success has given us a taste for more and we are eager to make a run at Alabama and the College World Series. We have a solid group of returning players along with strong recruiting class. With the returning group of players and the new recruits Hornet baseball will again be exciting to watch this upcoming season.

We would also like to recognize the 20 year anniversary of the 1987 NAIA National Runner-Up Team. All members of this team are highly encouraged to come back and enjoy this year’s festivities and events.

Please join us on October 12-14 for an Alumni Weekend to reunite and show these new players what it means to be a Hornet. We have planned an alumni game, picnic, and golf tournament. If you have any questions or want to make reservations by phone, please contact me at (620) 341-5930. If you are unable to attend but would like to help the program by giving a donation, please return the attached information sheet. We strive to continue expanding our level of achievement in the future with assistance from you. We look forward to seeing you at the Baseball Alumni Weekend to kick off another great year!
