August 14, 2009-A total of 39 Emporia State student-athletes have earned D-II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT.
To be eligible for the Academic Achievement Award a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year. A total of 237 student-athletes from the MIAA were honored with the award.
In addition to the ADA Awards, ESU is tenth in the nation in producing Academic All-Americans named by the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) in the 21st century. Hornet student-athletes have been named Academic All-America 16 times since 2000.
