Carmen Leeds
Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Affairs/SWA
Carmen Leeds is in her eighth year as associate director of athletics for internal operations and senior woman administrator (SWA). She oversees areas of NCAA compliance, athletic training, student-athlete services and the CHAMPS/Life Skills.
Leeds oversees community service and the student-athlete advisory committee. Under her supervision, each year ESU student-athletes perform over 1800 hours of community service. The student-athlete advisory committee has sponsored the annual Senior Citizen’s Prom and has raised over $1,000 the past two years for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
She currently serves on the NCAA Softball Regional
Advisory Committee. She is a past member of the NCAA
Division II national women’s basketball committee.
She has served as a facilitator at the NCAA Leadership Conference and for the Division II Action Academy.
She was formerly the head women s basketball coach
and SWA at South Carolina-Upstate. She coordinated the
Athletes Can Educate (ACE) program and implemented
the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
(SAAC). As basketball coach, she had a 100 percent
graduate rate among four-year players.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Appalachian (N.C.) State and her master’s from Clemson University.
She is married to Greg Leeds, a 1984 ESU graduate,
and the couple has three sons, Brian, Matt and Parker.
