June 9, 2008-The Emporia State Athletic Department has ended another spectacular year on the courts and in the fields with another successful Golf Tournament and Auction. After the first review of the books, over $22,000 was raised from the combined auction on Friday night and the golf action on Saturday.
The adidas team of Scott Snyder, John Koehler, Tom Ford and Larry Cosby won the first flight of the golf tournament with an adjusted score of 47.32 over the 18 holes. The foursome of Don Hill, John Korsak, Jim Geitz and Russ Gallinger shot an adjusted 55.00 to win the second flight.
Proceeds from the golf tournament and auction benefit the 15 individual sports programs and student-athletes at Emporia State. During the just completed 2007-08 school year, the Hornets had three MIAA championship teams and placed in the top 25 nationally in nine sports. ESU had more All-Americans in more sports than any other MIAA school, with Hornets being named All-American 20 times in nine sports during 2007-08. Two Hornets have also been named Academic All-American this past school year, again the most of any MIAA school.
