2007-08 Eppink Gallery Schedule

 

Gallery hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm

(closed during the summer)

August 17-September 25 Terry Maxwell and Josh Finley

Opening Reception : 5-7 pm on Friday, August 17

This exhibition will feature two Emporia artists who work collaboratively on drawings and paintings.  They will also exhibit their own personal work, showcasing their contrasting styles.  Terry and Josh are well-known locally and both artists attended Emporia State University.

 

October 1 - November 30  New Directions: Robin Cole and Anthony Henderson

Opening Reception : 6-8 pm on Monday, October 1

Robin Cole and Anthony Henderson participated in the inaugural ESU Emporia Chamber of Commerce visiting artist program.  Displaced from their home in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi by the wrath of Hurrican Katrina, the two artists were invited to Emporia for refuge.  They worked in the Kress building for the month of October 2006, and this exhibition would present part of the journey they began during that residency.  Paintings, drawings and sculpture will highlight the exhibition.

 

November 5 - December 4 Annual ESU Faculty Exhibition

Opening Reception : 6-8 pm on Monday, November 5

This annual exhibition showcases the work of all current and emeritus Emporia State University Art Department faculty.

 

January 18 - February 26  The Fabric of Landscapes : Works by Bryan Grove

Opening Reception : 4-6 pm on Friday, January 18

ESU Emeritus faculty member, Dr. Bryan Grove, will exhibit his abstract landscape creations made of fabric and mixed media, as well as a new direction consisting of brightly colored sewn abstract forms representing the new landscape of his life.

 

February 1 - 14  4th Annual Valentine Invitational Scholarship Fundraiser

Opening Reception : 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 14

This exhibition will be held at the Emporia Arts Council (at 618 Mechanic Street), and will feature work for sale by different artists dealing with the theme of LOVE.  ESU Art faculty will be invited to submit one work each and are encouraged to invite at least one outside person to submit work.  Proceeds from this event will benefit our art students through scholarships.

 

March 3 - March 28   Homecoming Drawing Show

Opening Reception : 6-8 pm on Friday, March 14

A drawing exhibition selected from the ESU Art Department's permanent collection and curated by Emeritus faculty member Donald Perry, has been traveling nationally for two years through Exhibitions USA and will be returning home to the gallery collection.

 

Emporia Glass Guild presents the annual Glass Blowout Spring 2008.  For more information, call 620.341.5246.

 

April 7 - May 2   Annual ESU Juried Student Exhibition

Opening Reception : 6-8 pm on Monday, April 7

Student works selected by an outside juror will be on display for this exhibition.  Annual student scholarships will be presented during the opening night reception.

 

April 7 - May 2   The Salon des Refuses'

Opening Reception : 8-9 pm on Monday, April 7

ESU student works not selected by the juror of the student exhibition will be on display at the Emporia Arts Council for the month of April.
