Cynthia Patton, Associate Professor in English, joined the ESU faculty in 2000 as Chair of the Department of English.   She is a native of Parsons, Kansas, and was educated at the University of Kansas and Indiana University-Bloomington.   She came to ESU from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado, where she was a faculty member in the Department of Languages, Literature, and Communications and chair of the Department of Art.  Her teaching and research interests include Scottish literature, music and art in literature, and eighteenth-century British literature, but her main focus is on the literature and popular culture of Victorian Britain.  She is currently developing classes and research interests in Japanese literature and film.  Cynthia is Acting Chair for the Deparment of Art for the 2008-09 school year.
