Welcome Ambassadors and Future Ambassadors!

Ambassadors is a wonderful organization that is dedicated to our beautiful university, Emporia State University. Our motto, that was the foundation of this organization, is “Service, Spirit, and Success.” This motto brings together a wide variety of people to serve one large purpose.

One major role that we take on as ESU Ambassadors is campus tours. We are the faces of the university. We give that first impression to the potential new student. We hold the traditions of Emporia State University along with history of our campus. Ambassadors go through a rigorous process to gather all of this knowledge. An all day retreat informs new ambassadors of our history and traditions that are to be shared on tours. Those new ambassadors then do shadow tours until they are comfortable and ready to start giving tours alone! Giving these campus tours can make a huge impact on a potential student’s life. The best feeling is a year later seeing that student on campus and remembering you gave them a tour. It gives you a quick reminder as to why you are an ESU Ambassador.

Besides campus tours, ambassadors also work alumni events. These events are nothing short of a good time! What can be better than getting free food, spending time with other ambassadors, and of course networking with alumni? The alumni truly enjoy meeting students that attend the institution that they are most proud of, ESU. They can always give great advice and even provide job opportunities in the future.

Other events that ESU Ambassadors puts on include the Black Hole, E-Zone, Tricycle Races at Homecoming, and Senior Week. The Black Hole is a tailgating area for home football games. It provides free food, goodies, and fun for students before our home games. The E-Zone is a designated seating area for students to sit in during home games also. This area is a place for students to cheer on our Hornets to victory! Tricycle Races during Homecoming is a major event that we do also. Teams are formed and compete, aggressively I must say, to win a trophy at the end of the race. Our biggest event however that we put on is Senior Week. This is a week in April to recognize those seniors who are about to graduate. It gives them one last opportunity to be together. Throughout the week we give away prizes and hold events to celebrate their graduation.

If you are a current Ambassador I strongly encourage you to enjoy all this time you have now with the organization. If you are a potential future ambassador I encourage you to apply and join because some of the best memories I have are with this organization. Yes, we do a lot, but we also have fun with it and make it the best that we can.
