The Hornet Heritage Family award, sponsored by the ESU Alumni Association, annually recognizes a multi-generational family of Hornet alumni and former students. A new family is recognized annually at Family Day.

Hornet Heritage Award 2023
The Emporia State University Alumni Association is proud to recognize legacy families with the Hornet Heritage Award, which honors a multi-generational family of ESU alumni and former students – families who have made Emporia State University a family tradition. This year’s Hornet Heritage family is the Mayes Family. One of Emporia State’s largest and most loyal family of alums was honored October 2023.
